What happens to your data

We are a pilates studio in Punta del Este. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to your data when you visit. It is short on purpose.

Data controller: Marea Pilates, Punta del Este, Maldonado, Uruguay. Write to us at hola@mareapilates.uy.

This site does not ask you for data

There are no forms, no sign-up and no user account. Reading any page here costs you nothing.

The only things collected on their own are the visit measurement and the notice sent by the WhatsApp buttons, both described below.

What we measure

We use Google Analytics 4 to find out whether the site is any use to anyone: how many people arrive, which search engine sent them and which pages they read.

When you tap a WhatsApp button, a notice also reaches us directly, so we can answer quickly: it says which button you tapped, which page you were on, which language you were reading in and where you came from. It carries no name and no phone number, we see those only once you write.

  • The pages you open and in which order.
  • Where you came from: a search engine, a link or directly.
  • Your country and approximate city, worked out from your connection.
  • Your device type, browser and language.
  • Clicks on the booking buttons, the pricing links and the language switch.

This means your activity inside the site is tracked.

What we do not do

  • We show no advertising and build no remarketing lists.
  • We do not sell or hand your data to third parties.
  • We do not join this measurement to your Google profile: Google signals are switched off.
  • We do not know who you are: no name, email or phone is attached to these visits.

The cookies we use

Three of them, and none is an advertising cookie.

CookieWhat forHow long
lang Set by the site: remembers the language you picked, so it stops sending you to Spanish. 1 year
_ga Google Analytics: tells one visit from another. 90 days
_ga_ plus the measurement identifier Google Analytics: keeps the session state. 90 days

Switch analytics off below and the two Google ones are never created. The language one stays: without it the site cannot remember which language you want.

The fonts

The site loads its fonts from Google servers. That means your IP address reaches Google when you open any page, even with analytics blocked.

We say so because it is true and it does not depend on your choice here. Moving the fonts to our own server is still pending.

How to opt out

We do not put a cookie banner in your way asking for permission, so here is the button instead. The site works exactly the same with measurement off: you lose nothing.

  • Block cookies in your browser settings.
  • Use a tracker blocker.

Where the data goes

The measurement is processed by Google, which stores that information on servers outside Uruguay, mainly in the United States and the European Union.

What Google sets out for its own service applies to that data as well.

How Google uses data from sites that use its services

How long it is kept

We set it to the shortest window Google allows: 2 months. After that only the totals remain, without the detail of individual visits.

The measurement cookies expire on their own after 90 days.

If you write to us

When you email or message us, we keep what you tell us so we can reply and arrange your classes. That never mixes with the analytics and never leaves the studio.

Your rights

Uruguayan law 18.331 gives you the right to ask what data of yours we hold, to correct it and to have it deleted. Write to us and we answer within five working days.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the national data protection authority.

If you are in Europe

This site shows no prior consent banner, so it does not meet the European opt-in standard for analytics cookies. We would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

The measurement is cut back to the minimum and the button above really does switch it off. Uruguay is also recognised by the European Commission as offering an adequate level of data protection.

Changes and contact

If anything on this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
