Reformer Pilates in Maldonado: where we are and how to get here
The studio is in Punta del Este, about ten minutes by car from the centre of Maldonado. Reformer classes all year rather than only over the summer, in small groups, taught in English and Spanish.
Where we are, and how long it takes from Maldonado
Plainly: the studio is not in Maldonado itself, it is in Punta del Este. From the centre of Maldonado that is roughly ten minutes by car, the same trip half the city makes every day, and the bus gets you here too.
We send the exact address over WhatsApp when we agree on a time, along with where to leave the car, which stop to get off at if you come by bus, and when to arrive on your first day. We would rather give it in the chat than on the page, so it reaches you attached to the slot you picked instead of as a loose detail.
Coming from La Barra, Manantiales, San Carlos or Piriápolis works the same way: tell us where you set off from and we will suggest a time that keeps you off the Roosevelt at its worst.
For people who live here all year
Maldonado is the city that does not empty out in March, and that changes the arithmetic. Most studios around here live off the summer. Here the classes are the same twelve months a year, at the same prices in January and in July.
Winter is in fact the better time to start. The room is quieter, there are more slots to choose from, and you arrive at summer with three or four months behind you instead of starting from scratch in January, when everyone wants the same hour.
Plans change from one month to the next, with no enrollment fee and no lock-in. If high season breaks your week because you work in what half the city works in, the plan gets adjusted and that is that.
What a class looks like
Fifty minutes on a reformer bed in a small group. The instructor sets your bed up, picks springs that suit your body and corrects one person at a time, so nobody is left alone with the equipment. You train barefoot or in grip socks, in comfortable clothes.
A class opens with breathing and mobility, moves into the strength and control block, which is most of the hour, and closes with stretching. You leave awake, not wrecked.
Classes are taught in English and in Spanish by the same instructor. Plenty of people in this area still think in English, so mixed rooms are the normal case rather than a special arrangement.
Small group, private or duo
The small group is the most popular option and the cheapest per class. Twice a week is where most people feel the change; once a week holds it if you never skip.
A private makes sense when you are coming back from an injury, have a diagnosis or want something specific: the whole class is built around you and progression moves faster. A duo is the same attention shared between two and costs considerably less per person, which is why couples take it, and why people who share the drive from Maldonado do too.
There are also live online classes over video call, for the weeks when the drive is not going to happen.
Starting with no experience
Almost everyone training here now arrived without ever having used a reformer. A first class is deliberately slower: the machine gets explained, the springs get tested and your bed gets set up before anything is asked of you.
It costs half a drop-in and commits you to no plan. If you buy one within seven days, that amount comes off.
If you have an injury, a diagnosis, a pregnancy or a recent birth, write before booking: we adapt the exercises and in some cases will ask for your doctor to clear you first.
Frequently asked questions
Where exactly is the studio?
In Punta del Este. We send the exact address over WhatsApp once we have agreed on a time, along with where to park and which bus stop to use.
How long does it take from Maldonado?
About ten minutes by car from the centre, traffic depending. The bus works too; we tell you which stop when we agree on a time.
Do you run classes in winter or only in season?
All year, at the same prices in January and in July. Winter has more slots free and is the best time to start if you want to reach summer already training.
Do I need previous experience?
No. The springs assist the movement while you learn and the instructor corrects one person at a time. Most people started without ever having touched a reformer.
How much do classes cost?
Prices are published on the site, so you do not have to write to find out: drop-in, monthly small-group plans, privates and duos. A first class costs half a drop-in.

Knowing which part of Maldonado you are in and which days work for you is enough for us to suggest the time that costs you the least.
